Search "website design Sydney" and you'll get a hundred agencies all claiming to be the best. None of that means anything. These are the things you can actually check before you hand anyone money.
1. Ask what their sites are built to do
If the answer is about aesthetics, brand feel or "telling your story", keep looking. A business website has one job: turn a visitor into an enquiry. Everything else is in service of that.
2. Look at load speed, not the portfolio shots
Run their client sites through PageSpeed Insights on mobile. A portfolio full of beautiful sites that take six seconds to load tells you exactly how the agency prioritises.
3. Check who owns what
Your domain, your hosting, your analytics, your ad accounts. If an agency retains ownership of any of it, they're building a hostage, not a website.
The best test of an agency is how easy they make it to leave them.
4. Ask about the timeline and hold them to it
We launch in 7–14 days. Long timelines are almost always process overhead, not craft. Every extra week is a week your site isn't earning.
5. Do they measure anything after launch?
Conversion tracking, call tracking, form source attribution. An agency that disappears at launch has no idea whether the site works — and neither will you.
6. Reviews from real, named businesses
We've got 41 five-star Google reviews from Australian businesses you can look up and call. That's a far better signal than an awards page.
