Pretty websites don't pay bills. Websites that turn traffic into enquiries do. Here is the checklist we run every build against before it goes live.
1. A headline that names the outcome
Not "Welcome to our website". Your headline should say what you do, who it's for, and what result they get. A visitor should understand your business in under three seconds.
2. The form is above the fold
If someone has to scroll to find out how to contact you, you've lost a percentage of them. On paid traffic, the enquiry form belongs in the hero.
3. Proof in the first screen
Star rating, review count, recognisable client logos, or partner badges. Trust signals early reduce bounce rate immediately.
4. One primary action per page
Every competing button costs you conversions. Pick the single action you want and repeat it — don't offer five different next steps.
5. Speed under two seconds
On mobile, every additional second of load time costs roughly 7% of your conversions. Compressed images, no bloated page builders, minimal scripts.
6. Mobile-first, genuinely
Over 70% of paid traffic in Australia is mobile. Tap targets, readable text, and forms that don't require pinch-zoom aren't optional.
7. Real photos, not stock
Genuine photos of your team, your work and your premises outperform stock imagery every time. People buy from people.
8. Objection handling built into the page
Price transparency, turnaround times, guarantees, FAQs. Answer the questions a customer would ask on the phone before they need to call.
9. Conversion tracking that actually fires
A beautiful website with broken tracking is a black box. Every form and call button should be measured — otherwise you're optimising blind.
